Why The Liberty Blueprint
The name came from James W.’s specific frustration with the language of the addiction recovery space.
The words we did not choose
Most brands in this niche use words like recovery, freedom, sobriety, reset, or reclaim. Each carries its own implication — and each felt wrong for what he was actually building.
Recovery
Recovery implies he was ill and is returning to wholeness. But addiction is not an illness that arrived from outside; it is a pattern he participated in building.
Freedom
Freedom implies he is being released from a cage. But addiction is not a cage someone else built — it is a set of neural pathways he laid down through years of his own actions.
Sobriety
Sobriety defines him by the absence of a substance. But he is not trying to be defined by what he is not doing.
Reset
Reset implies a mechanical fix. But addiction is not a bug that can be patched.
Liberty
The capacity to make his own choices.

He settled on Liberty because it is the specific state he actually wants: the capacity to make his own choices, based on what he actually values, rather than on what an urge or a compulsion is demanding of him in a given moment. Liberty implies self-governance. It implies adulthood. It implies dignity. It is the specific capacity that addiction takes from a man — and the specific capacity that recovery restores.
Blueprint
Not aspiration, but specification. Not inspiration, but instruction.

Blueprint came from an equally specific frustration. Most recovery content is motivational, spiritual, or emotional in register. These have their place, but they are the wrong tools for what he actually needed. He did not need to visualise his future self. He did not need to manifest anything. He did not need to surrender to a higher power. He needed specific technical instructions he could execute in the specific moments where the pattern took hold.
Blueprint is the technical drawing that precedes construction. It contains measurements, precise instructions, a clear sequence. It is what an architect gives to a builder. That is exactly what men in addiction recovery need — not aspiration, but specification. Not inspiration, but instruction.
Together
Together, Liberty and Blueprint balance each other.
Liberty provides the outcome.
Blueprint provides the mechanism.
The name does the positioning work in two words.
This is a specific, technical set of tools that produces the specific outcome of restored self-governance. Nothing more. Nothing less.
That is The Liberty Blueprint.
Who writes the workbooks
James W.
James W. is a mental health and peer addiction recovery specialist, writer, and educator with a particular focus on men’s addiction recovery.
His work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, structured practice, and the private reality of behavioural addictions — pornography, gambling, sports betting, compulsive sexual behaviour, alcohol misuse, and the quieter patterns that take more from a man than he meant to give.
He is the founder of The Liberty Blueprint, a private catalogue of structured, science-grounded workbooks and daily practices built specifically for men who prefer to do the work alone — without meetings, without a therapist, and without the spiritual or motivational framing that much of the recovery space relies on.
His approach is grounded in the neuroscience of addiction and the day-by-day practice of recovery — the private, undramatic work that actually shifts the pattern.
Evidence first
If a claim cannot be traced to published research, it does not go in a workbook.

Practical over inspirational
Every page is something to do, not something to feel.
